Just a few metres off Checkpoint Charlie, and at six other points across the city, Coffee Fellows are creating some of the best-tasting cakes and bagels in Berlin. With their fantastic range of sweets, including ‘Toffee-Tuxedo cheesecake’, cookie-dough pizza and cherry gateau, they’ll have you hooked from the first fateful forkful.
Tune out the rather loud German radio, and you can’t really criticise this place. The range of coffees on offer, as well as ‘frappiatos’ and ‘superfood’ drinks like matcha lattes, is great, and the service satisfactory with some English-speaking staff. The seating choice is a major plus-point – customers can take their pick from settees, stools or window seats, or they can sip their espressos streetside. The food is exemplary – a salmon bagel that took me to Heaven and back, and a cookie-dough cheesecake that I could have married. I was unable to think about anything else all afternoon, and needed a moment of quiet contemplation when it was finished to fully appreciate what had just happened to my tastebuds. Coffee Fellows might be a bit pricey, but they’re serving up bliss with a serviette.
